Invisible Responsibilities (w34)

I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday. This week is dragging.

Ev and I are still finding our new groove now that classes have started. He’s adjusting to high school, though, like many kids, he “hates school,” which breaks my heart. I remember enjoying parts of high school, but the culture feels different now.

My students echo the same sentiment. No one seems to have an interest in doing anything, and it’s exhausting when you are in a position to motivate, whether as a parent, a teacher, or, in my case, both.

Going Back to School Has Me Like…(w33)

So, yeah, I still got nothing! I know, it’s stupid to blog when I’ve got nothing to say, but I committed to checking in on these goals weekly, and damn it, I’m gonna do it.

Let me see if I can work backwards through the week.

I’ve got nothing, guys. My desire to write just hasn’t been there.

Beach Week (w31)

I’m just popping in real fast to share some photos from this year’s beach week and update my goals.

Annually, we meet The Husband’s family in Seaside Park, NY. It’s a longstanding tradition, and this was my 31st year! Unfortunately, Ry couldn’t go with us this year, as he used most of his vacation days for the Iceland trip. So it was a little bittersweet, but we still had a great time.

Here’s Ev and The Husband walking to dinner one night.

Adventure of a Lifetime (w30)

I’m having a hard time starting this post because I don’t know where to begin.

Yesterday, the boys and I returned from a week-long adventure in Iceland. There were smiles, tears, and tons of grit. I’m so unbelievably proud of them. They pushed themselves outside their comfort zones.

Like… WAY outside.

Goodbye 48, Hello ReykjavĂk! (w29)

Where do I even begin? The boys and I are headed to Iceland tonight! (Not tomorrow as the photo says, I meant to write this yesterday, but, well… life. WYCWYC)

One Week to Iceland! (w28)

In exactly one week today, The Boys and I will be on a plane en route to Iceland. I still can’t believe it, but it’s starting to feel really real now.

For those who don’t know, I made a commitment to travel with my boys once a year since they were little, and for the most part, I’ve kept it. You can see a summary of each trip here. I just added 2023’s trip and a note about 2024, the only year we haven’t gone since 2012.

An Unexpected Warm and Fuzzy Post (w27)

I may need some fellow parents of older kids to chime in on this one because I can’t be alone in these feelings.

I was planning to focus this post on how much lighter and happier I’ve been feeling since getting out of my head over the last few months and sharing more online.

But then this evening happened.

Fun Photo Post (w25)

Hi all! I’m checking in a day late this week, but I’m still here!

During our daily walk last night after Jeopardy!, I realized I hadn’t posted, and I made the decision to let it go and post today instead.

I came to that conclusion after working all day on the new WYCWYC Substack and… ready for it… workbook!!

Carla and I have teamed up to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of WYCWYC, and we’ve been working feverishly on a companion workbook AND planning the return of the podcast. I am more than excited. It’s giving me 2015 vibes, and I’m all about it right now.

Anyway, enough about that. I’ll definitely share news as we make progress. We both work and have families… so, you know, we’re WYCWYC’ing it. 🙂

On to the photos! I’ve decided to let the photos drive this post because I have at least one for each day of the week since last week’s post.
