Pasta alla Norcina
I will kick off this post with a fantastic recipe I made last night because that’s probably why you are here.
If you want to read my boring life update (because it’s been MONTHS since I’ve blogged), it’s below the recipe card.

I’m going with highlights here because I cannot possibly begin to sift through all the emotions and thoughts in my head right now. Part of me would love to do a complete recap of our entire trip and share all the fun details of the last dinner party I hosted, but I simply don’t have the mental capacity.
Guys, OMG, what a whirlwind the last couple of months have been!
I started moonlighting as a bartender while wrapping up one doozy of a semester. My Mom had knee replacement surgery. I got COVID (first time!). The 12-Year-Old got involved in his school play. AND THE 17-YEAR-OLD IS GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL?!
Nope. That’s not a typo. I absolutely fell in love with this punny sign I came across in Aldi and had to pick it up.
It is also a great way to tell you some exciting news!
I hope you read that title as I intended it. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but my head is full of movie quotes and song lyrics, and they tend to bubble to the top anymore.
Anyway, my goal was to post at least monthly this year, and, well, I already failed.
How in the world is it March already?!
Four months!
That’s one heck of a stretch of time for me not to blog!
This may be the longest stretch of time I haven’t blogged. My last post was in June, and frankly, after all the car troubles on vacation, my youngest broke his arm, we needed to replace our entire HVAC system, and I just was not in the mood.
It was “a summer,” to say the least, but things have been looking up lately.
Sitting down to write this post, I couldn’t get the “fish are friends, not food” scene from Finding Nemo out of my head .
Hence the title.
Listen, food is a lot of things to me. I was “raised Italian,” as I like to say. Food is a central part of how I was shown love and how I continue to show love. There is nothing I’d rather do more than cook a nutritious meal for my friends and family. If you follow me on IG, you’d think it’s all I do.
Cooking feeds my soul on many levels. I enjoy its creative side and craftsmanship. I love learning about other cultures through food. I enjoy bonding with others around food. I just think there are so many reasons food should be enjoyed!
Welp, I wish I came back from the road trip with good news to report, but unfortunately, my car broke down on our last leg, and it has totally bummed me out. What a shitty way to kick off summer.
That said, the boys and I still had a fantastic time! So I’m choosing to focus on the pros instead of the woes!
Before I get into the trip I’m planning with the boys, let me wrap my head around something.
This guy, The Baby, The Toddler, the one who made me a mom and changed my life forever, is turning SEVENTEEN on Tuesday!
