Two weeks ago I was writing from the hospital while Mom had spinal surgery, and now I’m back waiting while The Husband has surgery.
I’m starting to find hospitals a very reflective place to do some writing. Is that odd?

Guys, it is amazing how different my headspace is this week. It’s like I let myself have a pity party for the past two weeks, and now I have adjusted.
This happens to me every semester, so I’m not sure why I still struggle with the transition. Although I think my age and the current cultural and political climate are definitely giving me a completely different perspective.
It’s 8pm on Saturday, and I’m squeezing this post in to keep my weekly blog streak going. I haven’t missed a week since January 2025, and I’m not going to start now.
My ultimate goal is to post on Wednesdays, but my week runs Sunday through Saturday, so as long as I get a post in within that range, I’m happy. I like the accountability of it.
I don’t have much energy to process or write right now, but I wanted to pop in to keep up with my weekly goal.
Classes start Monday, and I’ve been battling some back/neck pain, digestive issues, and sleep issues.
I’ve still made it to the gym every day this week, mostly doing physical therapy-style workouts just to keep my back and neck moving. It helps so much.
OMG, I just realized I didn’t share my weightlifting competition from this past weekend! I did great!! WAY better than I expected, and it was such a boost of confidence.
This is what I shared on IG:
I don’t have much in me today, and I feel a little out of sorts. Work has been ramping up as I prepare for the start of fall classes. I did get a little painting and a little guitar in, but not with the consistency I’d like.
It’s our family’s beach week, even though we’re only going for a long weekend this year.
As parents of older kids, it’s hard to plan an entire week when all four of us have our own schedules and responsibilities. Not to mention, it’s quite expensive to rent a beach house these days, so this year we decided to just do a long weekend.
I am back from Mexico, revived, refreshed, and ready to go!
It was a great trip with some of my favorite people. I am grateful for friends who were willing to travel with me to celebrate my birthday.
I mean, look at usโฆ
It’s been two weeks since I did a goal check-in, so I’m looking forward to revisiting them. It helps ground me like nothing else does, especially during the summer when I’m all over the place.
The first website I published was in grad school in the late ’90s.
Yes, I am that old.
My first personal site was launched in 2005 when I created a family website to blog about my first pregnancy. That site snowballed into a weight-loss blog with a recipe-site spinoff, a yearly conference I hosted for bloggers, and even a small travel blog I managed with a friend.
I saw this quote on IG a couple of days ago, and I want to discuss it.
Well, I guess I mean reflect, because I’m here writing by myself, listening to music after a pretty awesome day.
Although, I do welcome comments.

expression.So create, create, create.
