What am I overthinking?
EVERYTHING!
Which probably means I should write more, because I hate being stuck in my head. However, when I think about writing, I start questioning myself and my own motivations.
I’ve been in such a good place in so many ways.
The husband and I are as tight as we’ve ever been. You know that every relationship has its ups and downs, but we are solid, and I have so much gratitude for him and his companionship as we navigate the insanity that is life.
The kids are good… no… great! After a few shaky years, my oldest seems to have found a groove. He seems happy, content, and is being a responsible young man. It’s really all I could ask for. His brother is navigating high school like a pro, and even though I want to strangle him like Bart Simpson some days, he’s smart, funny, caring, and just a fun person to be around. He literally. makes my heart happy.
Work is work. It’s exhausting and emotionally draining at times because I sink my heart and soul into my students, and they don’t always appreciate or even recognize it. But, I’m finding that if I stay the course, speak to them frankly, and hold them to a high standard, most of them come around. We are approaching midterms, and I feel like I have really helped a lot of kids get over quite a few humps in their studies.
Training is going AMAZING! Honestly, it’s the thing I look forward to the most in my day. I’ve been working with Project Lift, and I have learned so much about myself and my body. I truly feel like an athlete for the first time in my life, and I’m seriously considering sharing and journaling more about my training, simply because I love it so much and I want to inspire other women to pick up a barbell because it is life-changing in so many ways. I am not exaggerating when I say that at 49, I feel stronger and more physically fit than I ever have, and there is no doubt that I owe it to weight training. I now record most of my training sessions for my coach, so I have lots of footage that I’m starting to share. Here’s a fun edit I did from this morning’s lifting sessions.
2025 Goal Check In
I can only draw the conclusion that committing to these goals, especially this weekly blog post, has helped me a great deal by bringing to the surface the things that are important to me.
I’m not sure I will actually reach all of my 2025 goals by the end of the year, but it doesn’t matter. This entire experience has achieved what I wanted it to. I feel like myself again.
And here I am getting out of my head again and feeling better already. I’m off to cook dinner and watch Survivor!

I have found the same thing to be true this year. No, I won’t accomplish all my goals but I’ve really worked at them for the first time in many years.
I’ve even, (hard to admit, but I’ll press forward) started thinking about a 5 year plan which will take me to 67! Yikes! Possibly retirement?!
Anyway, you are so inspiring. And so authentic.
Thank you for your efforts. Always good to meet a fellow traveler.
Thank you for commenting! 5 years is too hard to wrap my head around. lol I’ll be 54… that seems unreal!

My good friend is doing Spanish on italki – she has the same teacher for online/sync conversations. Might be worth checking out! I haven’t used it.
OH I will! Thank you!!
Why do I have such an all or nothing mentality? I see your red Xs and if it was me, I’d have given up. It’s so hard for me to get out of that mindset!
I hear you! And I still have that tendency but when I do things like this.. keep track and commit.. I prove to myself that the small slip ups don’t matter as much as we think they do. Just keep going! It takes practice, lots of practice and acceptance that the perfectionist gene will always be there.
