Lift-Teach-Eat (w41)

That pretty much sums up my life at the moment.

Wednesdays are probably not the best day for me to blog, because by this point in the week, I’m spent.

It’s nothing and everything. I don’t want to talk about it. Instead, I will focus on my three things.

Lifting

I’m really into training right now. It’s the one thing that gets me out of bed in the morning. At 49 years old, I can finally say I feel like an athlete.

The cue: pull from the wrist. The result: feeling faster than ever!

I heard a Bob Ross quote the other day, and I couldn’t agree more:

“Talent is a pursued interest. Anything that you’re willing to practice, you can do.”

I’ve been at this weightlifting thing for nearly fifteen years! I am not naturally talented, but I am still making progress because I’m not only willing to practice, I want to. Most days, I have to drag myself out of the gym just to get to work on time.

Teaching

I don’t really want to turn this post into a gripe session, but O.M.G., teaching is NOT fun at the moment. The cheating is off the charts. Most students have no desire to do anything. I am trying so hard to see things from their perspective and be patient, but their passiveness and lack of interest are soul-sucking.

It’s not all bad. I have had a few wins this semester. There are a handful who truly appreciate all the time and energy I sink into my courses, but they are the minority. Everyone else is either cheating or they just don’t care.

The great thing about my job, though, it ends. There are only 7 weeks left in this semester. Then I get to take another stab at it in the spring, and that’s what I live for. Every semester, I get a burst of energy as I redesign my classes in an attempt to engage a new round of students.

It doesn’t always work, but I love trying.

Eating

If you follow me on my Facebook page, you may know I have challenged myself to eat more.

More greens
More fruit
More soup
More probiotics

I’ve been buying a ton of produce on the weekend, and it’s working!

I’ve been making myself a big salad nearly every day.

I’ve made a soup for the last three weekends, either chicken noodle or butternut.

And, I buy one of these every week and have been reusing the bottles for my own ginger bug sodas.

I also have a few kombucha experiments fermenting at the moment, though I haven’t been giving them much attention.

Oh! But I have been making sourdough a couple of times a week, and last Saturday was my best flavored loaf yet! I made a Pumpkin Sourdough with dried cranberries and pepitas.

I’ve been enjoying a slice for breakfast every day this week!

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got. I’m gonna update the goals and get ready for bed. You know, it’s Survivor night. 🙂
