Damn Murphy and his laws, I hate making decisions!
First, you need to know that next year, spring break is March 28th through April 6th. I only know that because last night, The Husband and I were thinking about what we wanted to do for our 25th wedding anniversary, which is April 28th, 2026.
We were considering a short escape to our favorite all-inclusive resort in Mexico during spring break, which would allow me to avoid taking time off work since the college is closed that week anyway. He thought it was a good idea, so I started planning.
Then I remembered, the 2026 USA Masters Nationals is March 25 through the 29th. This is a weightlifting competition I plan to train for. It’s not the end of the world that there is a day overlap. We can make it work, so I looked at booking the all-inclusive for midweek of spring break.
Then, this morning, an opportunity came across my inbox that stopped me in my tracks. A colleague is organizing a study abroad trip to Greece to, get this, “...analyze key lifestyle
practices long associated with lasting health in the region…through
daily activities; mindfulness and meditation; and the Mediterranean diet…“
Like… OMG, this trip was made for me! I want to go to Greece and learn more about its culture, especially how it relates to diet, exercise, and longevity.

This trip is, of course, over spring break. Conflicting with BOTH the weightlifting meet AND my planned 25th anniversary trip.
Now, I haven’t even spoken to The Husband about this, and I’m not even sure we could swing the Greece trip financially, but man… I’m swimming in my first world problem of what trips do I take?
Do I compete in the national weightlifting and then relax with The Husband on a beach in Mexico, celebrating our 25 years of marriage, OR do I skip the weightlifting meet and Mexico and explore Greece while studying nutrition and longevity?!
I honestly cannot decide. I’ll check if The Husband is interested in Greece, as that would solve one problem. However, I know him, and international travel is just not his thing. Plus, that’s a steep vacation cost for us if we both go. Financially, it’s just not feasible.
Aaaack. I don’t know what to do, but I’ll figure it out.
Anyway, just popping in to update my goals and check my blogging box. It’s only Wednesday, but I’m already done with this week. It’s been a doozy! Vacation planning, however, always puts me in a good mood. I mean, I don’t think there’s a wrong answer here.
