Why Not? (y2w25)

So here I am, checking in real quick on a Friday again. My goal of posting weekly on Wednesdays is falling short, but I haven’t missed a week in two years! So I’m popping in real quick before bed.

I’m not going to do a full goal check this week. I’m just here for a little brain dump, as I’ve been super active setting up WastelesslyDelicious social channels and teaching my two summer classes.

Experiencing my first viral-ish video has been quite the experience. I’ve been creating content online for well over two decades now, with varying degrees of “success,” if that’s what you want to call it.

I say “success” because getting a million views on a video has never really been a goal of mine. I guess that seems odd to people who post, and maybe even to those who don’t. But my goal has always been to connect with people, share ideas, and express myself. If people relate, it’s really rewarding. If they don’t, well, it gets lost in the black hole of social media, and who cares?

I’ve been sitting on WastelesslyDelicious since the pandemic. I remember talking to a friend about it on a trail run, and she thought it was a fun concept, but the time wasn’t right. I was only a few years back into my career at the Community College, and I still had youngish kids.

So I secured the domain name and sat on the idea for a few years.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to share the first of my ideas… a syrup I make with the tops of the strawberries I cut for my fruit salad.

Well, who would have guessed so many people would respond so positively to it! It feels like my proof of concept was a success, and I’m running with it.

I’ve been very self-conscious posting all these videos, and I’m full of doubt, but I just keep asking myself, “Why not? Let’s see what happens?”

So I’ll be spending the summer having fun and posting all my silly ideas. It’s fun, I’m having a blast, so again… why not?

I’ve been cross-posting all the videos across the major social channels, and it’s been fascinating to see how they perform on each. That alone has been a fun little side project to explore.

Anyway, you can follow along here:

I’ll be back next week with my goal updates.

Hope you are well!
