You Like Me, You Really Like Me!

I. Am. Blown. Away.

On a whim today, I decided to reactivate my old blog Facebook page. I did NOT expect to reconnect with so many people who used to read my blog!

I felt a little like Sally Fields. (Only you fellow old people will get that reference.)

A complete side note, did you know she is usually misquoted from that speech? It’s a bit of a Mandela effect! She doesn’t say, “You like me, you really like me!” which is what I always thought she said. The actual quote is, “I can’t deny the fact that you like me. Right now, you like me!”

Who knew?!

Regardless, I felt a little like Sally Field today. I was blown away by all the comments and memories that people shared. It was quite overwhelming. In a good way!

So, I guess I’ll keep throwing myself into the void we call the internet. I quite enjoy telling you about my day, anyway.

Today started like most days, at the gym. I needed to shower and rush to campus as I had class at 9:30 am. It’s week twelve in this fifteen-week semester, and I’m counting the days to finals week. It hasn’t been a bad semester overall, especially compared to the last two years. I’m just tired, and so are my students.

I also know I’m about to be flooded with desperation emails, excuses, and late work, and I am not looking forward to it.

On my way home from work, I stopped to get a quick haircut, and then I wasn’t going to do it, but I did! I recorded another “Cook with Me” video, and The-One-Who-Shall-No-Longer-Be-Called-Little-Bean joined me for a few seconds.

(Do you guys see a thumbnail above for the video? – it’s not showing for me for some reason, and I’m too tired to debug.)

I couldn’t believe it. My kids could not be more different. When the Teen was under ten, he was so outgoing. Then, around fifth grade or so, he didn’t want to do any kind of recording or videos. He just got shy, which I assumed was pretty typical for his age.

The 11-Year-Old is (as with most things) the complete opposite. He had no interest in doing videos young, but recently, he’s been showing an interest. It’s almost like he’s getting less shy and more outgoing!

Does anyone else have kids who are complete opposites? They are with most things. It’s uncanny.

Anyway, right now, I’m catching up on Better Call Saul with The Husband and enjoying my new favorite nighttime snack.

I mix a scoop or two of Chocolate Collagen Protein Powder in a big dollop of yogurt. Then I top it with walnuts. It’s just an indulgently delicious, satisfying, high-protein snack. I don’t count calories or macros anymore, but I do my best to get my protein in since I weightlift five days a week.

I’m signing off for the day. Hope you had a good one!

Great to see you back again. You were always so motivating and I have made plenty of your recipes that always turn out great! I am a recipe follower, I just don’t have the knack to throw things together and make it work so I really appreciate all your great ideas. I still say wyc wyc quite often!

Ha! Me too. I am hoping to post more actual recipes too. They take more time, of course, and that held me back from posting for a long time.

Love seeing you back. I’ve been following since the 17 year old was a toddler!. Love these easy to put together recipes !!

I posted some blog entries after a year of silence and was pleasantly surprised by how many positive comments I got too. People actually noticed I was gone! Now that Twitter has been bought by a half-crazy billionaire, hopefully people will start fleeing to more blog-like platforms again. Me and you, Roni, bringing back blogging, yeah! 🙂

I was thinking the same thing! Let’s lead the charge and start another blogging revolution. lol
I was just having a conversation with a friend about how bloggers are like the small business of the internet. All the big players in social media pushed us out and now one travels down main street anymore. It’s all Walmarts (Twitter) and Targets (Facebook) and stuff (TikTok)

Awww so excited to see you back! Like getting an unexpected postcard from a old friend !
