A Japanese-Inspired Sommelier Deathmatch

FINALLY! I’ve been trying to share the details of my latest dinner party all week, but it’s been crazy around here. You’d think after classes end, I’d be a bit less swamped but nope. I got myself involved in too many projects at work, and they are all coming to a head right now.

Anyway, who wants to talk about work when we can talk about food?! For this month’s dinner party menu, I took inspiration from Japanese flavors or, at least, what I think of when I think Japanese. After a little bit of research, I settled on this:

A Blind Sommelier Deathmatch!

I wanted to share the details of our latest Dinner Party all week, but somehow, I’m even busier when I’m NOT working. How is that even possible?

It’s spring break in these parts, and I’ve been taking advantage as per my monthly goals. I’ve gotten lots of stuff accomplished around the house. I’ve taken The 11-Year-Old to the Aquarium and the Science Center. And I’ve been working on a few other things I can’t share quite yet. I’ll just leave you with this link.

Anyways, on to the dinner party!

A Valentine’s Day Sommelier Deathmatch!

Happy V Day!

I was hoping to post something between this dinner party and the last one but with classes in full swing my schedule is jam-packed and I’m exhausted at the end of the day.

That’s not to say I’m struggling because I actually don’t feel like I’m struggling for the first time in a long time. I’m just your typical busy working mom still trying to carve out time for things I enjoy.

One of those things is putting together dinner party menus and cooking for my friends. Both of which I did this past Saturday!

Our First Sommelier Deathmatch

My dinner party friends and I have been upping our dinner party ideas for years now. We used to go out and enjoy sampling menus with wine pairings and trying new restaurants.

Then five years or so ago, we started cooking for each other. It started simple enough, but over time when you get a couple of foodies together, well, things can start to get out of hand.

Friday Food Stories

I still have not figured out the issue with my website causing yesterday’s error, but thankfully, I have a back door into my admin area through my hosting company. I already spent too much time trying to debug it, so I guess I’ll live with it for now.

Anyway, yesterday really was a good day. I try to recognize them when I have them because it’s too easy to focus on the negative. Like the weather right now. What in the world is going on?! I mean, I guess April isn’t historically the most fantastic weather month here in Maryland, but it feels like winter will not let go. I’m so tired of chilly, windy runs.
