Adulting Hard (y2w28)

I am simply popping in tonight to keep up my weekly blogging streak. I have not missed a week since January 2025, and I don’t want to give up on it now. So here I am!

It’s been a crazy week that kicked off with our air conditioning bombing during the latest heat wave.

25 Years Online: What “Going Viral” Actually Paid (y2w27)

The first website I published was in grad school in the late ’90s.

Yes, I am that old.

My first personal site was launched in 2005 when I created a family website to blog about my first pregnancy. That site snowballed into a weight-loss blog with a recipe-site spinoff, a yearly conference I hosted for bloggers, and even a small travel blog I managed with a friend.

Expressing (y2W26)

I saw this quote on IG a couple of days ago, and I want to discuss it.

Well, I guess I mean reflect, because I’m here writing by myself, listening to music after a pretty awesome day.

Although, I do welcome comments.

The opposite of depression
is not joy, it’s
expression.

So create, create, create.

It is the soul’s medicine.

Why Not? (y2w25)

So here I am, checking in real quick on a Friday again. My goal of posting weekly on Wednesdays is falling short, but I haven’t missed a week in two years! So I’m popping in real quick before bed.

I’m not going to do a full goal check this week. I’m just here for a little brain dump, as I’ve been super active setting up WastelesslyDelicious social channels and teaching my two summer classes.

Doin’ Me (y2w24)

I am so happy I recommitted to setting goals and blogging weekly last year. It’s been helping me get out of my head and find myself again.

In my nearly 50 years on this earth (6 weeks until my 50th birthday!) I’ve come to the conclusion that I thrive on setting and working toward goals, with the accountability of writing about them weekly. By sharing online, I also connect with those who share my interests or struggles, and I love that.

SO MANY THINGS! (y2w23)

OMG, guys, I already know I’m going to come across like a raving lunatic in this post, but you know what… I may just be a raving lunatic.

I feel like I’m in some sort of creative energy burst, and I’m allowing myself to just ride it out. So please bear with me as I use this post to try to organize my thinking and group some of the active projects and activities I currently have going on.

Passions Converging (y2w22)

It has been a CRAZY two weeks!

I don’t want to repeat myself from last week, but I will… every semester, when classes end, I think it’s going to be this great big relief, and it is, to an extent, but then meeting and planning season begins.

Unlike last week, however, I’m energized, not fried. I presented on something yesterday that I’m super passionate about: online course design. And it was really well received! Here are a couple of quotes from the end of my session:

Depleted Deload Week (y02w21)

Every semester, when classes end, I think it’s going to be this great big relief, and it is, to an extent, but then meeting and planning season begins.

I gave a presentation yesterday (photo above). I’m preparing for another next week. Summer classes start in two weeks, and I’m working on some materials for the department.

Controlling What’s in My Control (y02w20)

I’m trying to muster up the energy to write, but it’s just not there. I’m going on day three of grading final projects and replying to desperate student emails about how they MUST pass this class for one reason or another.

I’m proud of myself, though. I’ve been crafting supportive but firm responses. The effort I’ve been making to call out my negativity bias is working. Yes, I have a lot of audacious, apathetic students, but I also have quite a few hard-working, attentive ones.

It’s Almost Over! (y02w19)

I’m popping in real quick because I’m really trying to get back to my scheduled Wednesday post day. The end of the semester has really bogged me down over the last couple of weeks.

That said, IT’S THE LAST WEEK OF CLASSES!!

I’m sorry, did I share that a little too excitedly?
