Happy Sunday! It’s been a pretty lazy day in these parts. I was planning on posting this yesterday but Saturday was pretty much just as lazy.
Here’s this past week’s workouts in review…
Push Press – 10 Reps as Heavy As Possible (AHAP) then 2 sets with in 90%
I tried to get 103 lbs for 10 reps but could only hit 8 so I backed down to 98 and was able to do 10 but my drop sets at 93 lbs were sketchy. I had to drop the last 2 reps on the boxes to complete 10.
Back Squat – 10 Reps as Heavy As Possible then 2 sets with in 85%
My goal was just to go a little heavier than last week for my heavy set and I did, completing 10 reps at 143 lbs. Then I did my two drop sets again at 123.
10 Bench Press at 75 lbs
10 Wall Ball Press to person standing on bench with 14 lbs ball
10 plyo push ups onto 45# plate (I was actually able to do these! Although it took quite some time)

The photo to the left is my friend Rachel and I attempting the wall ball press. As soon as our other friend pulled out the camera we messed up and I almost dropped the ball on her face, of course. He caught us cracking up afterward.
Clean from Hip – 5 reps AHAP + 4 sets @ 80%
I was able to do 108 for 5 and then complete 4 sets at 88
Snatch Deadlift 10 reps AHAP + 2 sets w/in 80%
I did 143 and then 123 but it was ugly and I was really unmotivated.
GHD sit ups – 10 reps x 5 sets
I did one set of 10 but my lower back wasn’t liking it do I completed 50 ab mat sit ups instead. I was running out of time anyway. As we like to say in my workout group, it was a draggin’ ass kind of day.
Back Squat 10 reps x 5 sets @ 85% max weight from Monday
I did 123 lbs and it felt like a marathon!
Strict Press – 10 reps AHAP + 4 sets @ 80%
I did 73 again for my heavy set but I still needed to break up the drop sets. Although this time it wasn’t until the 3rd set.
Push Press – 10 reps x 5 sets @ 85% of Monday
I did two sets at 83 lbs. It was all I had in me and I was running out of time anyway.
Box Jumps – 3 reps x 5 sets
I took a break from the gym and went for a run instead. I felt like my muscles needed a break. I did 2 miles in 20:21. Far from a speed demon but it was nice getting out there before work.
Snatch from hip- 5 reps AHAP + 2 sets @ 80%
I was able to get a little heavier than last week hitting 83 for 5 and then dropping down to 68.
Clean Deadlift to hip – 10 reps x 5 sets @ 120% 1 rep max Clean & Jerk
I worked up to 153 lbs.
Sumo Dead Lift high pull @ 75
Alternating KB Snatch @ 30
I did 21 Sumo Deadlift High Pulls at 53 and then the snatch but had to run as I was running out of time. I didn’t have it in my anyway. I was exhausted.
Snatch 1 rep max
I worked up to 88 — 5 lbs less than last week and I was totally ok with that. I attempted to skip over my 1 rep of 93 by trying 98 and failed but I was oh so close and actually feel like I made progress even though I wasn’t able to hit.
Clean & Jerk 1 rep max
Worked up to 118, again 5 lbs less than last week but I was ok with it. I just wasn’t in the mood to push myself with the weight.
1 rep max
I hit 128 — 5 lbs heavier than last week!
Weighted planks – 30 sec holds AHAP x 8 total sets
I was supposed to these the day before but I ran out of time so I added them onto today. I started with a 25 lb plate and added 10 pounds each hold until I hit 75 lbs which I did twice. I’m not going to lie I felt like a bad ass. 30-second plank with 75lbs on my back was no joke!
I went on a 3.5 run/walk. My goal was to run 3, which I did with a little walking in the last mile. So I decided to run past my turn around spot and tacked on some walking to the end.
Taking a brisk walk is becoming more enjoyable than running for me. I’m trying to figure out if I’m just being lazy or if it’s time to just embrace where am I right now.
In other news…
- The 6-Year-Old and I built our first pinhole camera for tomorrow’s eclipse.It took all of 5 minutes. If you’re interested in how we did it click here to see the NASA video.
- I’m not going to lie, I’ve been geeking out about the eclipse. I even took a personal day from work tomorrow so I could watch it with the kids.
- My new tv obsession (besides GoT of course) is You’re the Worst. The main characters are nothing like The Husband and I but their relationship reminds me of us. It’s just fun to watch, a nice escape.
- The whole family hit the grocery store today. This was the scene.
And you wonder why I sometimes want to go alone.
- Foodwise my diet has been less than stellar. I’m considering food journaling again but I just don’t feel like it, which is probably a good sign I should.
