Workouts and Updates – Week 2

Happy Sunday! It’s been a pretty lazy day in these parts. I was planning on posting this yesterday but Saturday was pretty much just as lazy. Here’s this past week’s workouts in review… Monday Push Press – 10 Reps as Heavy As Possible (AHAP) then 2 sets with in 90% I tried to get 103 lbs for 10 reps but could only hit 8 so I backed down to 98 and was able to do 10 but my drop sets

Thursday Thoughts on Friday — Memory, Travel Plans, and the Best Smoothie Ever!

Long title but bear with me. This actually kind of flows. I was totally planning to post yesterday but The Husband decided to bring out a bottle of wine with dinner and, well, that was the end of that. Plus the 6-Year-Old is smack dab in the middle of a mushy stage. ALL he wants to do is cuddle and I’m totally happy to oblige. We’ve also been working on his reading before bed, so that usually takes a big

Bonding Over Veggie Filled Chilli Prep

I love vegetables. No, really, it’s becoming quite an obsession. Above is a photo of most of the ingredients I now use to make my chili. I realized after we started to chop that I forgot the mushrooms. Some of you may not believe it but those hands are NOT The Husband’s. That’s the 12-Year-Old! He and I bonded while cooking dinner. We chopped and talked and sang. I was playing some alternative 90s station on the Spotify and he

Yesterday…

Yesterday GoT was on, and even though I was falling asleep on the couch around 7 p.m., I had to wake myself up to watch it — which I did while eating an unnecessary snack to help me stay awake, of course. This is my downfall. I swear. Yesterday I cooked the most amazing Sunday dinner!  I am on a mission to make Sunday Dinner a thing again. I want to make an old-fashioned meal weekly that sets the tone

Friday Fitness – Week 1

This week I started a new training program with my morning workout group. I haven’t blogged about my fitness ventures in a while because they were in a state of flux for a bit. I ended up leaving my first CrossFit gym (the one I was helping manage for a a little while) for a new CrossFit gym because I was starting to get unmotivated. The gym switch didn’t really help so I left the new gym for a 24-hour

Remember When…

This post was made in a blogging group I belong to on Facebook the other day… Do you guys remember when we all just blogged? I miss those days. We were so innocent… I DO remember those days and I miss them dearly. Sure, it was fun riding the wave of blogging madness over the past 10 or so years. It started for me as a fun way to stay accountable while trying to lose weight and turned into a

Excellence Riviera Cancun

Happy Sensational Sunday, guys! I’m writing from my room at Excellence Riviera Cancun in Mexico. The Husband and I are wrapping up our annual, adults-only, long weekend escape. This is the third year we’ve taken a trip like this and this resort is my favorite so far. We flew in Thursday morning around lunch time. The Excellence Riviera Cancun is just a quick 20-minute ride from the airport so we were at  the resort just in time for lunch. Our room wasn’t ready

Mom Guilt for the Win

It was a long day at work. Long. I came home exhausted, made some dinner and if I was left to my devices, would have collapsed on the couch and slept. As you probably guessed, that didn’t happen. I have kids. Well, at the moment, A kid. The 12-Year-Old is on his first solo adventure. That was him on Saturday heading off for a five-day camp trip with a local church. The adventure includes volunteer work, whitewater rafting, and laser tag. He was

Thursday Thoughts Overload

Where to I begin? It’s been a whirlwind of a week that was kicked off by a crazy weekend — so crazy I’m not sure I have the energy to recap it. Let’s just say it involved a pool, baking, wine (a LOT of wine and good friends), a kid’s birthday party and a baseball game with The Husband. Monday was my birthday and this week at work has been busy and interesting, to say the least.  So let me

2017 Birthday Bucket List

Today I turn 41 and a photo I posted earlier on IG pretty much sums up how I’m feeling about it.  I kept that sign on my desk all day and everyone got a chuckle but the truth is, at 41 I still need to learn that “No” really is a complete sentence. At 41 I’m still struggling with wanting to be “nice” while standing up for myself. At 41 I’m done with feeling like I have to prove myself all
