Slow and Steady Gains – Week 3

Today I wrapped up another week of my new training routine. It’s been a challenging 3 weeks and I’m starting to notice some changes in my strength. Nothing earth shattering but just slow and steady progress. Here’s how this week shaped up. Sunday Run turned walk. Monday Back Squat – 10 Reps as Heavy As Possible (AHAP) then 2 sets with in 90% My goal was just to go a little heavier than last week’s 143 lbs and I did! I

Workouts and Updates – Week 2

Happy Sunday! It’s been a pretty lazy day in these parts. I was planning on posting this yesterday but Saturday was pretty much just as lazy. Here’s this past week’s workouts in review… Monday Push Press – 10 Reps as Heavy As Possible (AHAP) then 2 sets with in 90% I tried to get 103 lbs for 10 reps but could only hit 8 so I backed down to 98 and was able to do 10 but my drop sets

We had to complete at least 1 Power Clean as a team within 45 seconds to progress through the ladder. If we hit all 10 lifts then 5

A Scorching Sunday

Today started with a local 5k. The start line is literally a quarter mile from my house. How can I not participate? Originally the kids were going to come with me (they did last year) but they weren’t into it. Once I stepped outside I was glad they didn’t come. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that type of heat that early in the morning. Ever. The race was BRUTAL. By the second mile I was drenched in sweat and the heat

Quick-ish Middlebury Maple Half Marathon Recap

There are so many thoughts swimming in my head it’s hard for me to start this post.  My weekend in Vermont with Cabot and the amazing group of women they organized was exactly what my soul needed at this point in my life. I left on Friday a little down. I’ve been dealing with a lot of emotional baggage lately but after spending the weekend with seven amazing women I’m returning inspired, re-energized and more confident than ever. Yesterday I ran
