Who’s in the Mood for Some Chocolate and Vicodin?

One of my favorite bloggers turned friend has released her second book! You have to check out Chocolate and Vicodin!

I started reading Jennette’s blog waaaay back in 2007 I believe. She is not only an inspiring weight loss success story but a fun and witty writer that has an uncanny ability to make me chuckle. She shares her personal experiences in a very relatable and entertaining way.

After I read her first book, Half-Assed: A Weight-Loss Memoir Jennette, or PastaQueen as I still call her, was nice enough to stop by my blog and help answer a few questions from readers.

I wasn’t sure how much I’d relate to her second book as it isn’t about weight loss but her experience with a chronic headache. Here’s an excerpt from the book’s press release.

While CHOCOLATE & VICODIN documents a painful journey, it does so in Fulda’s humorous voice and with added levity provided by her earnest readers. Today she has not fully shed the pain that set in three years ago, but she has changed her outlook and no longer longs for her former, headache-free life. With as many as 70 million American suffering from chronic pain and approximately 28 million of those people battling chronic headaches/migraines, Fulda’s story of perseverance will certainly speak to the many who are donning their own ―invisible tiaras.

I’ve should have known better to worry. The book is awesome! I actually can’t believe how much I’m enjoying it. Jennette has this wonderful ability to bring you along on her journey. Seeing the world through her eyes as she experienced the headache from hell is curiously entertaining.

Besides being a witty, successful author, Jennette also designs web sites and actually helped me with the look of this site. She is a talented, funny, beautiful woman whom I’m very lucky to have the pleasure of knowing. Please check out her books…

I hope Jennette is going to do some cross promotions with her fantastic new book.

I've never actually tried chocolate.

I saw the excerpt that was posted on Salon.com and was pretty much blown away by how quickly I was able to visualize her whole experience with the IVs, etc.

I could relate to some of it too...

Really look forward to getting a copy of it in my grubby little hands!

Hi Roni,

I've been a lurker since way back when you had your Weight Watchen page. I even remember the "crash". I can't believe that this would be the topic that would finally bring me to delurk.

I've been a teacher for 12 years now, and currently teach middle school, which I truthfully love. At one point in my career I was teaching 3rd grade and a student provided me an interesting solution to dealing with a headache. He put both fingers on each of his temples and began rubbing them in a circular motion. He then announced loudly to the class, "My mom says that if you just rub your TESTICLES you'll feel better."

Many an adult male has confirmed this to be true.

Thanks for providing a wonderful set of blogs. I enjoy reading about your journey, and feel like you are part of my virtual family.

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival!

Big thanks to everyone who's ordering the book! I appreciate the support.

The title along grabbed me! Will check out her weight loss book too :) thanks!

Thanks, Roni! I'm glad you liked the book.
